FROM WEDNESDAY 18th MARCH 2020, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, WE WILL BE OPERATING A TELEPHONE TRIAGE SERVICE ONLY.
PLEASE DO NOT COME TO SURGERY UNLESS ADVISED TO DO SO
CONTACT US BY TELEPHONE ON 01832 734444 AND OUR RECEPTION TEAM WILL BOOK YOU A TELEPHONE CONSULTATION IF APPROPRIATE. ONE OF OUR CLINICIANS WILL THEN CALL YOU. IF YOU DO REQUIRE EXAMINATION, THE CLINICIAN WILL GIVE YOU A TIME TO COME TO SURGERY.
WE WILL STILL BE CARRYING OUT SOME NURSING PROCEDURES AS LONG AS THE PATIENT AND ANYONE THEY HAVE HAD CONTACT WITH REMAINS FREE FROM SYMPTOMS OF COUGH AND/OR FEVER AND/OR ACHING.

- In Person:
Return the computerised repeat prescription slip indicating the medication you require to reception. A box is provided in reception to enable you to deliver your prescription without having to wait. You may also put the repeat slip into the postbox outside the front doors.
- By Post:
Post the computerised repeat prescription slip indicating the medication you require, to the surgery, enclosing a stamped self-addressed envelope if you wish us to post the prescription back to you. If posting please remember to give at least one weeks notice for a first class stamp and longer if using second class.
In the interests of safety, we do not accept requests by telephone.
Prescriptions will be ready for collection in 2 working days (longer by post) if you will be picking the prescription up from the surgery.
Script Ready By
Please request repeat prescriptions well in advance of public holidays, etc.
For those that request their prescription be sent to a local pharmacy then the time will be dependant on that pharmacy. Please contact the relevant pharmacy for an indication of the timescale.
Patients can either collect their prescription from the surgery or a chemist of their choice if they opt for the Electronic Prescription Service (see below).
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescription to the place you choose to get your medicines or appliances from. Find out how this could save you time by downloading our leaflet.
Please preempt ordering prescriptions to avoid medication running out.
If you are given 56 days of tablets and you have 7 days left, order your new prescription. In the case of any emergency your regular pharmacist will give you a couple of tablets until you get your new prescription.
It is good practice that repeat medication is regularly reviewed so that you get optimum care. Please make note of the review date and make an appointment to see the doctor.
If you are going on holiday you should take a list of your medication with you. In case you have a problem ENSURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH MEDICATION TO COVER YOUR HOLIDAY. SOME COUNTRIES ALSO NEED A DOCTOR's LETTER TO EXPLAIN THE MEDICATION. Check with your travel agent.
If you have elderly relatives ensure that they have an adequate supply of their medication. Dossette boxes/blister packs can be arranged if they have a large amount of medication to take.
If you have any queries about the medication that you are taking or you suffer side effects from medication prescribed please speak to your Doctor.
For your wellbeing and safety the Doctors regularly review patients who are on repeat medication. This may be done when you see your Doctor for a normal consultation, or he/she may speak to you on the telephone. You may be asked to arrange an appointment with the Doctor for the review to take place, in this case please arrange to see your Doctor in good time before the medication runs out.
Each drug has two names - the generic and the brand name. Where possible we use the generic name because this is usually much cheaper for the health service. Due to this, you may notice a change in colour, shape or size of your drug. Do not be concerned by this, you are still receiving the same drug of the same quality, it is only the appearance that has altered.
Medicines are free to: pensioners, children under 16, people under 19 years old and in full time education, pregnant or nursing mothers, and people suffering from one of a number of specified individual conditions, people on income support or family credit.
